1. Analytical reagent, their complexes and ion associates that no covalently binding with silica surface.
2. Chemistry on the interface of “modifying agent solution/silica surface” and “metal ion solution/modified sorbent”
3. The analytical and complexing properties of solid-phase reagent as function of nature of modifying agent and mechanism of their binding with the sorbents surface.
4. The development of hyphenated spectroscopic methods using:
   • Molecular spectroscopic technique,
   • luminescent and chemiluminescent technique,
   • AAS and ETAAS- spectroscopy (solid-phase ETAAS in particularly),
   • Kinetics methods,
   • gel-penetration chromatography
   • electrochemical technique and
5. New solid phase reagents for:

• investigation of speciation of heavy metals and biometals in natural water,
• rapid and simple (including visual–test) determination of various toxicants (heavy metal ions and some organic compounds),
• antioxidants and bioactive elements in the environmental objects (water, soil, etc.), biological liquids, food, medical, etc.
