SCIENTIFIC EXPERIENCE AND FIELD OF INTERESTS

  •  Design, preparation and physical characterization of environmentally friendly heterogeneous catalysts for acid-base and oxidative catalysis. Experienced in performing catalysis reactions (oxidative coupling and cleavage reactions, epoxidation, etherifications). (PostDoc and PhD thesis) [1-3].

  •  Particularly skilled in functionalization of inorganic solids with organic functions and heteropolyoxometalates [PhD thesis, conferences 1-3]. Good knowledges and the use of standard characterization techniques including DRIFT, STA, TG, adsorption/desorption methods (TPD), HPLC/GC, solid state NMR. (PhD thesis).

  •  Synthesis and physical characterization of new materials, in particular SiO2 grafted with complexing ligands; their use as adsorbents for heavy and precious metal ions [4], sensors [conference 5]. Preparation of chiral stationary phases for HPLC on the basis of silica-grafted mixed-ligand La3+ complexes [MSc thesis, conference 6]. Use of advanced chromatographic methods; characterisation of new chromatographic materials [5]. (1-year stage, Prof. Engewald, Leipzig University, 1995/1996).

EXPERTISES AND SKILLS

  •  Scientific stages in foreign countries (England, France, Germany) made me sociable and communicative, capable of easy joining new team; while research experience in different laboratories made my research interests flexible.

  •  Working in the University of the Ukraine requires finding research grants. Involvement in several scientific projects of my laboratory gave me some experience in coordination other people research and writing research proposals. In 2002, I was co-author of the project proposal (for a group of 10 people) that obtained funding of Ukrainian Government.

  •  During the PostDoc in the UK I gained experience in solving industrial research problems, working under the pressure of industrial needs. This was a good practice to develop the skills for communication and cooperation with other team members working separately on common subject. This experience was also very useful as a practice for report writing and presenting research data at the meetings.

COMPUTERING SKILLS

Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), Origin, specialist chemistry programs, e-mail, the internet.

LANGUAGES

Native Russian, Ukrainian. Foreign English, French (fluent spoken, written), German (good knowledge), Italian (basic)
