SUMMARY
The main aim of our project will be study of porous silicon (PS) nanostructures as new hydrogen reservoirs.
The main objectives of our project are:
1) quantitative analysis of hydrogen amount chemically bound to the specific surface of the nano-PS structures;
2) enhancement of the hydrogen amount which can be stored in PS nanostructures up to 10 mass% due to elaboration of new approaches allowing reversible storage;
3) elaboration of original technological ways allowing in future mass production of the PS-based hydrogen reservoirs at an industrial level;
4) elaboration of efficient ways for hydrogen desorption from the PS nanostructures at low temperatures (<200°C) and at atmospheric pressure;
5) ensuring of high reproducibility and stability of hydrogen storage in the PS nanostructures at room temperature and atmospheric pressure.

We should especially precise that to our knowledge, the PS nanostructures are original and unique nanomaterial type in which several possibilities for hydrogen storage and production can be simultaneously realized: 1) physisorption; 2) chemisorption; 3) hydrogen incorporation in crystalline nanostructure; 4) hydrogen production due to oxidation. Therefore, general study of this nanomaterial as
hydrogen reservoir is a new and extremely promised research work of the first order importance.
